Winton Outback Festival 2023
An action-packed five days of events with an 'outback' flavour. The Outback Festival brings people together to celebrate all things outback.
Winton’s Outback Festival is five days of quintessential Australian fun in the heart of Queensland’s Outback. Famous for the Quilton Australian Dunny Derby, this hilarious event involves teams of five pulling and pushing the thunderbox (dunny) through an obstacle course, all competing for over AUD 5,000 in prizes. Other signature events range from the Outback Ironman + Ironwoman, Century Cycle Challenge and a swag of novelty Australiana events, such as whip-cracking championships, bushman’s egg-throwing, strongman challenges, wool bale rolling and bush poets breakfasts. Combine this with live bands, little swaggies, kid’s events and a new sunset dining experience overlooking Winton’s stunning landscape and you have an Aussie festival not to be missed in 2023. Winton is sure to welcome you, your friends and family. What began as a small celebration back in 1972 has grown to some 8,000 visitors descending on the small outback town every two years in September.
