Old Cork Station Historic Homestead
The Old Cork sits beside a peaceful waterhole full of yellow belly and black bream. After wetting a line, why not wander around the homestead. Once a vintage sandstone building on one of Winton’s original stations, it now lies in ruins with a series of informational panels revealing its fascinating past.
Things to do: Camping (must be self-sufficient), fishing, four wheel driving, birdwatching, swimming and picnicking.
Where: 126 km south-west of Winton on the banks of the Diamantina River.
Long Waterhole
This popular man-made camping and picnic spot is also great for both fishing and birdwatching.

Where: 2km south-west of Winton.
Conn Waterhole
The Conn Waterhole is a haven for fishing, birdwatching and picnicking. Drop a line in and you’re a good chance of hooking a yellow belly.

Where: Turn off the Boulia Road approximately 60km from Winton.
Mistake Creek
The Cragg Family Bridge at Mistake Creek honours the pioneering family who lived here until the 1950s. It’s a great picnic and fishing area with yellow belly often caught in the creek.
